Post-lockdown Chemistry Tuition As the sun is setting on the lockdown, I have good news for my students who want to meet in person.
I completed over forty online sessions during the Easter break, ten of which my cat (Coco the Clown) decided to infiltrate. I pleased to say that we can meet face-to-face again for tuition, no cats invited. I know some of you will miss her meowing ‘Hello, hello’ and deciding to dance for the camera, but thankfully those days are numbered.
Here are a few tables containing the important information for interconversion of organic functional groups based on the OCR specification. These are useful for synthesis questions, including multi-step reaction pathways. Many students find these simple binary interconversions easier to revise than mind maps, they can be worked on by the cover-recall-reveal method. I couldn’t find up-to-date information anywhere in a table format, so I made my own.
I cross-referenced the reagents and conditions with the most recent (2017-) mark schemes for each test specification.
