Hello, I am Dr Andrew, a specialist full-time Chemistry tutor, former research scientist, undergraduate tutor, and graduate from both Oxford and Cambridge universities. I have helped over two hundred students improve their test scores and their confidence at A-level, International A-level and GCSE/iGCSE, including many who needed the highest grades for their university course such as medicine, law or for entry to Oxbridge. I offer friendly, insightful support to students who need it for the whole of the academic year in addition to those who are preparing for exams or resits.

Whom do I teach?

My students are often aspiring doctors, dentists, engineers, and natural scientists; with a few each year aiming high and applying to study at Oxford or Cambridge. Over 90 % of them are online, a fifth are abroad, including several living across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Around one fifth are usually resitting a mock or a final exam.

Many student don’t do as well as they could at school because their teaching is poor, their knowledge is patchy, or they have lost a little confidence in the subject. Because each student has different talents and aims, I plan each tutorial in advance and tailor the content to their needs.

I offer a different environment and perspective to classroom teaching, having worked as a research scientist, an applications scientist, a study director, an examiner, and as a tutor of undergraduates. I use active learning strategies to engage the student one-on-one, working with them on their study skills, chemical knowledge, and exam technique. The fundamental aim is always to help them do the best they can.

Andrew only taught my son for a short period before Covid-19 put a stop to the 2020 A-levels! However, from the very first lesson we were very impressed.
